Run by the Tandem Collective, Tandem Festival launched in 2014 in Oxford, England is about bringing eco-friendliness and the arts to new audiences, all whilst celebrating vibrant cultures from across Europe. As a not-for-profit initiative, any surplus made will be re-invested back into local community groups and cultural enterprises focused on sustainability and environmentalism.
Music & Arts
At Tandem Festival, listening is key. Our acoustic performance spaces, from barns to yurts, will bring you closer to the music, enabling the rediscovery of sound without large amplification.
We encourage bands to turn off their amps and explore what they can do without them – expect to catch unique and intimate performances.
By night, our outdoor main stage comes into action. This amplified space brings the whole festival together for en-masse music and dance!
We’re not just about the music, there will also be theatre, dance, writing workshops and art installations to tickle all your senses.
At Tandem we believe in sustainable living, and this is an ethos we want to share with our audience. Last year we brought together over 40 community groups delivering talks, workshops and films that presented eco-friendliness in a way that’s engaging, fun and relevant.
We love to upcycle and re-use: all of the furnishings and musical contraptions used at the festival were rescued and have been given a new lease of life post-Tandem 2014.
We are lucky to know some incredible local musicians and artistic talents – but we’re also part of a continent with rich and diverse cultures and we want to celebrate that too!
We invite artists and performers from across Europe to join us, bringing you specially-selected, talented emerging artists who rarely play in the UK.
We also encourage our artists to use the most eco-friendly method of transport possible – look out for bike convoys coming from several European countries!
